A post is placed in a tooth so that it can support the placement of a crown.
Before a post is placed, one needs to have root canal treatment.
We are obliged to make you aware of possible unforeseen complications/risks that may occur with placements of posts:
- If Root canal treatment has been carried out on your tooth by a different clinician, please be aware that if this tooth becomes infected this is not due to the placement of the post, but it is a result of the root canal being infected again. This will not be the responsibility of Dr Stern to remedy this problem.
- When placing a post in a tooth, there is a small risk that a perforation may occur or the root can crack. If this occurs then the tooth will need to be removed.
- Please be aware that when a post is placed in a root, there is a small chance that in the future the root may develop a crack. If this occurs, it will manifest as an infection and the tooth will need to be extracted.
An estimate for the treatment has been provided, however, if unforeseen complications occur which would result in further treatment, then you will be informed if extra charges apply.
